Danielle - Something to say

Danielle Purvis

I decided 2021 was the time to report my non recent abuse.

I was unsure if the police would investigate an almost 40 year old crime.

However, I was extremely lucky and had an excellent officer in charge of my case.

A year-long investigation led to 10 charges of indecent assault on a female under 14.

This went to trial in January 2023.

Unfortunately it was not guilty.

At the same time I have been studying for a degree in Social and Public Policy.

I’m using my voice in my dissertation to try and understand people’s attitudes to reporting sexual violence.

I faced my perpetrator in court, and I am not afraid to speak out.

By staying silent we keep their secrets.
