Kristin - Something to say

Kristin Vaughn

I am a Survivor of trafficking.

But that’s not my identity.

I’m a daughter and a sister.

A granddaughter.

An advocate and an activist.

A chef and huge computer nerd.

A gardener and a pet momma..

I’m also a leader.

An expert and a professional.

A Board member

A speaker and a trainer.

A writer.

I was rescued from my traffickers and with that gift comes a responsibility-

To run back into the fire & carry people out.

We do this work because we’ve been to war,

to the streets, to back allies and side streets & trap houses.

No one knows hopelessness, the shame, the utter lack of joy better than us.

We can heal from sexual exploitation, abuse, and CPTSD.

We can meet people where they are and walk with them until they are ready.

We are called experts , but treated like a trophy on a shelf that gets pulled out when company comes over.

We Fight Monsters.

We join leaders and allies and organizations to fight human trafficking and protect the

most vulnerable people

We can teach each other.

LISTEN to Survivors.

HIRE US. Put us on your Boards. Engage with us.

We are here.

Open your minds and hearts and

LISTEN to us. WORK WITH US. Not FOR us.

COLLABORATION is the ONLY path forward.
