Ben Fruser - Something to Say

Ben Fruser

After many years of not believing it was true or something my brain had made up. At the age of 30 I disclosed to my family, I was sexually abused in my childhood.

Having an adult life of mental health problems, questioning my sexuality etc. I started with getting help and talking. I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD and BPD, from the trauma I had suffered. This gave me a footing to further reach for help.

I was signposted to a brilliant charity called Sue Lambert Trust. Who offered me one to one counselling. I also completed a course of EMDR, which helped immensely.

I wanted to share my story not from a perspective of trauma, but from a perspective of hope and resilience.

It may not be your time to share what has happened and for some people it may never be the right time or to find the safe space to do so or even find the right dialogue.

What I want people to know is you’re not alone and there is help out there. Awareness is paramount. Go well.
